BlogSpot is one of the leading free blogging platforms but has many limitations.
One of the biggest limitations is; that Google is in control of your blog.
Google has the right to remove your blog at any time.
This comes in Generally, if you use your blog to send spam or engage in other activities that violate BlogSpotTOS.
This is one of the reasons I keep suggesting people to go to a self-hosted blogging platform and are looking for where they have full control.
In addition to complying with BlogSpot's policies, you may choose to back up your BlogSpot blog on a regular basis. This will ensure that you can always restore your data and posts should something go wrong with your blog in the future.
Taking the backup of BlogSpot blog:
Any BlogSpot blogger can use BlogSpot's blog export feature to create a full backup of BlogSpot posts and comments. The backup will be in .xml format and you can save it to your local desktop. Unfortunately, this is more of a manual process, and depending on how often you update your blog, you may need to create weekly or monthly backups.
It's a good idea to back up your custom BlogSpot template on a regular basis. This solves two main problems:
- If your blog is deleted, you will have a full backup of your theme.
- If at any point you get an error while playing with the template code, you can quickly restore the template from your backup file.
I also recommend that you store your backup files on Google Drive or Dropbox so you can access them from anywhere. Tell me what method you use to back up your blog?
